A poem to end the day.........


She wakes from a dream cold and crying

Once upon a time there was laughter and joy

Life was good, passing chapter by chapter as the story should

He held her hand and promised forever

"Follow me to the end of time" he wispered softly in her ear

She believed and said "I do" with love and trust

Years pass and time began to take it's toll

The love she once knew began to tarnish

The slow decay of false perfection began to eat through her like a cancer

and the vow of infinite love

was all but a distant memory

The blindfold that was once wound so tight

began to give, crashing to the ground

disintegrating into dust

Her eyes sore as they began to adjust to the steady stream

of light showing her the way back to reality

She wonders if she can let go of the illusion she has created

She knows she can forgive but will never forget

She wakes from a dream cold and crying

Knowing that time still moves on

The lights of the city still show to the heavens at night

The leaves on the tree will turn and fall silently to the ground

forgotten only for a season

Blood still courses through her veins from her heart that

has gone cold yet slowly thawing

She makes a vow and screams into the silent black night

"Everything's gonna be alright"
