So I have a random new internet friend, I guess. I always wonder what someone was looking for that led them here.
Went into town yesterday, picked up a few things. Got a copy of Said's Orientalism so I can have nerdy discussions with R when her class comes to that part, and found a used copy of the Gorillaz CD. I also grabbed a free issue of the local Spanish-language newspaper.
For whatever arbitrary reason, I want to see if I can teach myself Spanish purely via exposure, rather than classes or textbooks. I just sort of noticed that simple, low-level spanish already sort of makes sense to me thanks to my background in Latin and French, so let's see how far I can take that. (Update: I also just sort of noticed I use "sort of" way too many times!)
They were having some sort of cultural festival, incidentally. I took a few brochures , pamphlets, and schedules, though I don't know anyone who would actually go to plays, much less an orchestra concert. At least, I don't know anyone around here. I could really stand to make some local friends who actually have common interests and tastes.
Oh well.

Additionally, anyone who wants to see a really creepy movie should check out The Machinist. They did a terrible job describing it on the back of the box, but my friend's gamble paid off, and it was extremely well-done.

Heheh I doubt I'd get that far before giggling about how they got a stupid tattoo, regardless of meaning. Characters in a langauge you don't understand do not a good tattoo make, har har.
