Ok, this is going to be an experimental post. This is just the header and placeholder, like some soiled post-it sticking out of a prayer book at St. Ignatius's down near the old Ryerson mills in South Chicago.

In the comments I'm the shuttle dancing the weft.

Just some funny crap from the news.

compartmentalized secrecy

This is the govberment's terminology for that old left-hand-talking-to-right-hand problem.

I love the image of this. (They're talking about certain politicians, meh.)

I'm still laughing about this one. It exists. An inside joke for Australians.

The books of my childhood were on my mind today. The stories of Thomas Hardy, Maugham, Leon Uris, Forester and Forster, and Conrad. Tales of adventure and hardship on the high seas and foreign moors, sometimes a relentless struggle to survive, or a tortured cascade of love and grief. Tales of living as a stranger in distant ports, journals of travel compelled by fear or...

Well, i didn't like Australia too much. I can't really tell what it was, but it didn't feel right. People were nice, landscape was nice, blablabla, but it didn't grab me like the Lago di Tenno in Italy or Rockview Dam in South Africa did.
But Arri's new Rental facility in Sydney is top notch. Whatever i asked for, they pulled it out of the shelves in mostly brand new condition. I deflowered one of their 235s... wink

Some negative aspects of today:

1. I awoke to find the sewer system in my home/office backed up and 2" of a grotty fecal-laden sulfur-smelling liquid-like substance on a pretty big area of the first floor. This is the 4th time this week.

2. The father of one of my friends died today, and at 28 she's too young to loose her father. I called...

China, my China,
I've wandered around and you're still here...

Thought I would be going to see her soon as well but alas I am off to the warm southern soils of Old Mexico instead
work work work
and I can not complain

I have recently developed quite a habit of all things sweet and fatty and anything with chocolate is a sure winner on my menu of late. Chocolate donuts rank high on the impulse meter as well as what it means to add the word deluxe to any meal.
Substituting anything for skipping the bar.
Replacing certain sugars with less bad sugars
seeing how it goes

Good luck shoveling shit against the tide

From birth, I've been cursed by an inability to fall asleep easily, and sleepiness is most definitely not induced because some clock indicates 22:51. For a long time, while my ex was still willing to share a bed, this caused no shortage of hours staring at a dark ceiling or listening to crickets, accompanied by the inevitable worrying about bills or any momentary irregularity of...

Update: Security Alert! Somebody randomly breaks into my journal, leaves disjointed prose, then disappears into the ether. I'm going to find out, someday...

I've noticed that the majority of journals here generally attest to inebriation or other altered state of consciousness, debilitating horniness, gluttony, or sloth, with the balance either a swoon or a swoop directed toward the object of a member's affection. None of...

If you should be looking for descriptions of nothingness i advice you to read Andrea Emo, an italian philisopher who wrote about nothing else.

I haven't been to Argentine yet. The job was confirmed last year but actual shooting will start by autumn this year.

I believe the window would also have lost part of it's power if the restoration was done "right". You can't restore soul. I just came back from a trip to Tokyo. The sword museum of the NTHK is one of my favorite places in this world. It's a rather small place crammed with blades that are overwhelming. Pieces of art and very well constructed tools for killing humans in one.

Second, have you ever noticed how serious alcoholics have a very clear view of the world and it's ills, irrefutable proof, as applicable, of the incompetence of leaders in academia, the church, or the government, MRIs of the delusional brains of the megalomaniacs in some position of authority, and the perfect solution to each problem at...

Sorry for not answering any your comments lately. I've spent my holidays at home in the woods and stayed away from things like computers and the internet.

Chirstmas Eve. My choice was to get on a plane in about 6 hours, have a turkey-free Christmas dinner in Heathrow tomorrow, then fly on to China. It's work, but still much fun for me. For most of the past 10 Chirstmas holidays I've gone to non-christian countries, which suits me just fine. I guess that now makes me unpatriotic, since that seems to be...

Sure. Some of the 'commentary' looked like spackle applied with a baseball bat, but the cringe-inducing moral grandstanding was at a minimum; it addressed the social costs of oil without making democracy out to be some kind of white man's burden; and even when the bad guys got some comeuppance, it didn't feel like smug intellectuals smirking at dumb conservatives. In short, it felt like a real political film, not a Michael Moore movie.

I enjoy Kiss Me Deadly, they have good energy, which makes for a live show, but I don't think that they're the most brilliant of bands necessarily. Telefauna is probably one of the best unknown bands in town right now, I know them a bit, if you like I could send you a couple of tracks. Very poppy.. but if you like Le Tigre, I could see you enjoying this.

I'll counter your depressing thought with a more intriguing one - most "finite" games can be played infinitely, that is to say for the same game you can find amateur (infinite) and professional (finite) leagues. With a discerning eye, of course.

I know I was keeping mediapile super hush hush but I was eager to talk about some of the books, so I gushed after the contest fell through.

Yeah.. live has a pretty great affect.. I'll recommend anything else I might think of if it comes to mind.

The plan for lunch sounded interesting, so I enthusiastically agreed; a seaside restaurant on a sunny September day. Maybe a place with a broad veranda with white wicker chairs facing the bubbling waves, like Reading Reef outside Montego Bay. Terns and gulls diving and drifting in the wind. The colors of the sky balanced with the deep green water. Children running on the sand, carefree...

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! I know that i need some equipment to operate theses gas bottles. I just don't know what a "Druckminderer" is called in english... I worked a lot of construction and know how to operate this stuff from welding. I thought about a compressor but figured out that a version that delivers clean air, without the oil you mentioned, will be more hassle and more expensive than the gas bottle. I'm aware of the fact that it might blow dust into the seems but it will be very useful for cleaning magazines and filters.
I didn't think about tapimg the seems of the cases and i'm afraid most questions i could ask you will arise when i'm actually shooting.

I've been searching hardware stores for industrial vacuum cleaners that could be used to clean cameras . What i found was a suction device that's driven by a compressor. It can also be mounted to a gasbottle and works way better than the vacuum cleaners i found.
Tell me, when you're in Berlin the next time. We can meet for a coffee and discuss dust.
