i've spent too much time reading and left none to update the journal again. i was going to write something chin-strokey on relationships, but i'll have to boil it down if i'm going to get any tea tonight:
I've always thought that Americans have dating and the British just have alcohol. We get pished, end up randomly snogging/shagging/whatever floats your boat-ing someone, then either a) leg it or b) don't leg it. when option b) is chosen a relationship has been formed.
this has started to change. people i know are 'going on dates' and worrying about the appropriate things to do/wear/talk about on the 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd. i'm not sure this is an improvement. it seems that by importing a system of 'rules' and a ready-made language for talking about how we form romantic or sexual bonds, we're lessening the messiness and uncertainty than can make young relationships difficult, but also make each one seem fully special and unique.
Thoughts? Comments?
Look how great this quote is:
"People think I watch TV too much, but they are wrong. There is a huge difference between merely 'watching' TV and learning to respond aggressively to it. The difference, for most people, is the difference between the living and the dying of their own brains."
Hunter S. Thompson
I stole it from soapdodger's journal (and he'll never catch me bwhahahahetc) . I'm totally getting it on a t-shirt for next year's Edinburgh TV Festival.

1st/ 2nd/ 3rd what? This is a language I don't understand! I think that the traditional British way is better, there's enough neurosis and stress here without adding the dating bollocks into the equation. Still, I can think up a number of ways to annoy people who do following the dating shite. Hmmm, that could be fun. Pity all my mates just go out, get twatted and shag, otherwise I could test on them.
the getting pissed way is so much easyer but you got the beer goggles to contend with then
personaly i have had no luck useing eather method -sighs-
Hugs
