I felt kinda guilty at first.
I never really got into Radiohead's music. It's not because I thought their music sucked or anything, but because I was never really exposed to it except for their smash top-40 hit "Creep" in the 90's, in which I bought that whole album to get that one song. Back in those days we didn't have iTunes. I don't even remember having a computer.
But anyway, the "In Rainbows" album comes out in what appears to be a publicity stunt - you can download the album and pay anything you want. Nothing, if you choose.
So, me being me, there had to be a catch, so I downloaded the entire album and chose to pay nothing.
Holy shit, man, they were for real. I downloaded Radiohead's latest album for free.
I feel kinda guilty, because I'm an indie myself, and I've seen my promos go on resale for like $2, while I'm not getting a penny out of it. (Note to self: never use your full album as promos. Radio stations and critics will just resell that shit and keep that money for themselves.... but hey, at least the shit got sold, LMAO!!!)
So yeah, the reason why I felt this guilty was not only am I an indie performer myself, but also because THAT ALBUM ROCKED!!!!!!!!
So what did I do? I asked my buddy George to give me a list of his favorite Radiohead albums. And I bought them.
Sorry that I punked you on your latest album, Radiohead. But with that, you've got a new fan. Rock on.
