Enid Blyton's Magic Faraway Tree was a big part of my childhood imagination. Even though the things I remember most from the story is laughing at the names Dick and Fanny!
I used to live near bushland and would spent most my days searching for magical gumnuts, snake skins, pretty flowers and rocks. I would create potions and talk to fairys and animals that lived in the trees.
One of my jobs as an adult now is to run drama worshops with kids for the school holidays. My workshop is going to be with 10 to 12 yr olds based on The Magic Farway Tree, this is the description:

****Take your inspiration from the classic Magic Faraway Tree series by Enid Blyton and create your own modern enchanted tale. Through a series of drama exercises that will build confidence and teamwork, you will focus on acting areas such as brainstorming, improvisation, playbuilding, and character creation. Perhaps set in a faraway place or in the far, far future, you will rehearse and present the story of your unique and special land on the final day.****

I can't wait to see what the kids create. Its so important that they hear the amazing stories we did and use there imagination instead of sitting in front of video games all day. And i can't wait to create and imagine with them. I am still a little girl inside.
The tattoo im getting is a tree branching out over my back with a little girl swinging on a tree swing. Its kinda like the Magic Farway Tree I guess!

Awesome! Couple of friends here are from up that way, mostly Byron & Tweed Heads area. Good to see you've moved down this way. Make frequent trips up that way. No-one around SG seems to be from the Sydney area surprisingly. Am originally from Dubbo but am in Wagga doing uni. Where do you "door-bitch" it up? Cool tat idea too, am in planning for a earth/tree themed sleeve on my left side.
