I attended my second Colour Parade a few weeks ago now. What's the colour parade I hear you asking?
Its a group of Sydney Cats that gather at town hall steps in Sydney, dressed to impress and walk down the street in the name of celebrating diversity, acceptance and colour in the city!
This year we had a group of around 100 people, we were led through the city by a soundsytem in a wheelie bin and stopped at a few key places to have a dance. We walked though the QVB and went into Myer and had a rave. We ran through pitt st mall and through macdonalds yelling things like "Reclaim public space" and lots of 'WOO HOO'S!".![](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/ph-508.604ed20cffa9.gif)
Its pretty crazy the reactions we get off people. Lots of people looked confused and angry. A young boy was yelling at us "you fuckin faggots". I don't understand why poeple could be angry at a bunch of young people celebrating life? Its weird how scared people get when they are confronted with something out of the mainstream.
We continued on the the MCA and through circular quay and to the Opera house Steps! Lots of asain tourists were taking photos of us but then the rangers arrived. They were pissed of that people were writting in calk on the footpaths.

So we moved our party to the botanical gardens and played with a massive rainbow parachute like the ones in primary school. I was on acid and so was my room mate zoe, so we were pretty much just laughing/crying at everyone. Here are some of the amazing people we got to watch all day!![](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/ph-508.604ed20cffa9.gif)

We ended up getting kicked out of the botanical gardens by the shit rangers. They said there can't be gatherings of more than 15 people in the park without registering!? I think they are afraid of the Colour!
The Colour Parade makes me happy for months on end. Its a Celebration of life.
Bring the colour back!
