Day 3:
Not so many pics today.
On the third day we decided to try the south west side of the island. We drove down towards Kihei but all that morning it was drizzling and cold. Driving around Kihei we spotted a place to eat:
We stopped at Fred's to compare Hawaiian-mexican with Colorado-mexican. Sadly, Hawaii is not up for the challenge. The spiciest stuff they had was about on par with the salsa I can get a Safeway. It was tasty regardless. The impressive thing was their list of, count them, 50 Tequillas!!
Eddie and I each had a couple margaritas which were pretty good while waiting for the rain to let up some. We were there for a while and eventually got to talking with our waitress Emily:
Emily told us about the special event type thing that night at Fred's. The restaraunt and the bar upstairs were connected by a stair and there was live music and such. She pretty much invited us back and said that she would be ther around 10, near the bar.
I made definate plans to go back.
Once the rain let up, we continued south to Makena park. Big beach was nice but kinda empty and cold.
On the other side of those rocks is little beach, on of the most popular nude beaches in North America. We checked it out but there were only a couple of middle age guys there. On big beach we found a neat natural cave.
After checking out that area we went back up north to Lahaina to watch the sunset again.

That pretty much ended the pictures for the day, but not the fun. Heading back out after sunset we started wandering back down the beach past the resorts. We randomly decided that we were going to go wander around IN the resorts, what were they going to do? Kick us out?
We found a nice hot tub and camped out in it for a while until the rich punk highschoolers got too irritating. We excused ourselves with a pretty good line, if I do say so myself.
Eddie: "I could use another beer"
Me: "Yeah? Well we have plenty in the car."
Remember, the other kids in the jacuzzi were all underage and undoubtedly without their own car. We left with several looks of envy following us.
Farther down the beach we commandeered an abandoned beach chair and Eddie got the bright idea of setting up shop right at the waterline while the tide was coming in. There are some pretty awesome pics of Eddie getting creamed by waves on his camera. When we finally got back to the car we found that the gates to the public parking lot were locked closed. Luckly we were able to call someone to come unlock the gates for us so we could get down to Fred's in time - remember the girl above?
When we got to Fred's, we started drinking. 20oz Bud Light for $2.50, not too bad. After a little while, lo and behold, Emily actually shows up.
She buys me a couple drinks since we tipped her well earlier. Emily and I were talking and I think we were getting along quite well. Sadly, when the bar was closed, my drunk ass lost track of her in the shuffle of people getting kicked out.
And I even think she was telling me about a party later that night somewhere. Fuck, my one chance and I blew it.
After that, Eddie and I passed out in the car so I could sober up enough to drive back to the hotel. About 4AM, the very long day 3 comes to an end.

'86. APEXi N1 (I believe) exhaust and stock airbox removed. This was done before I bought the car so I don't really know if the exhaust is real. Doesn't sound bad though, then again we all sound like lawn mowers anyway.

Pseudo-dual exhaust. It is a little loud but it's not bladdy if you know what I mean. Sounds like a loud bumblebee. I don't have any plans on upgrading anything. It was bought as a fun means of transportation before I knew about the problems and nuances of rotories. I've done a lot to keep her up, but unfortunately she's not giving me back what I've been putting into her.
