Oh my god. What a fucking rush!!
So we have about 6-8" of snow on the roads up in the apple-ghetto and none of the streets have been plowed. Most of the streets hadn't even been driven on. My first idea was simply to tearass around the neighborhood. Eddie came with me in my car first. Next we took eddies car, which is front wheel drive and has ABS so it was much more controllable. I'm not sure when we came up with the idea of skitching, but our first idea was to use my shitty old snowboard and a tow rope hooked up to eddies car. But then I remembered the 3-man rubber raft Jake found over the summer. We used a 12 foot tow rope and hooked the raft to the back of the car.
It was my turn first. Eddie drove while I rode in the raft behind the car. I had on all my winter gear. Fleece, shell, face mask, goggles, big hat, the works. It was awesome! The car would kick up a lot of snow and I was taking it all in the face. When Eddie cut around a turn just right I would swing out way wide and end up almost on the sidewalk. I think I hit a couple front yards actually. While the raft was sliding sideways, it would stil pick up some snow so it was like being in a constant white-out blizzard even though there is essentially no wind outside. After a few loops around random streets I was FREEZING so Eddie and I switched spots. I drove while he rode. We got moving pretty good in a few spots. Probably up to 30 mph on the straights. Too bad we couldnt get any video of the skitching. All in all we have been fucking around outside for about 1.5 hours.
