I like to read before I go to bed. As such, I usually keep a few books and/or magazines by the bed to read before lights out. On average, I probably read for an hour or so a night. So far so good.
What usually happens, however, is that my reading purchases seem to accumulate faster than my ability to read them in a timely fashion. The end result is that the pile of reading material on my nightstand is usually several inches high. I also read from the top of the pile down, which means that the things on the bottom of the pile can end up there, unread and unloved, for months.
However, the amazing has happened.
Last night, I read the last thing in the pile. I can now see the lovely brown wood of my nightstand completely, without obstruction. This is the first time that I can remember actually not having anything to read that I haven't already read. It's sort of a strange feeling, but it also is nice to know that I've read everything that I've bought for that purpose.
I figured I'd give you a sample of some of the stuff that has been in the pile the last few weeks:
Books
Tuf Voyaging by George R.R. Martin
Complete Classic Mini 1959-2000 by Chris Rees
Nowhere Else on Earth by Josephine Humphreys
The Ultimates TPBs, Vols 1 & 2
Magazines
Four Four Two
World Soccer
White Dwarf
Comics Buyers Guide
Mini World
Go Mini
Throw in a few comics and newspapers and you've got a paper mess in my room most of the time.
I guess it's time to go out and buy more shit
