Believe it or not, there is someone I despise in the US government more than dubya. I give you, my friends, the devil incarnate:
Condoleezza Rice, the current US Secretary of State. She needs to be Secretary of State about as much as I need to be Pope. I hate her I hate her I hate her with the burning passion of a thousand suns.
Today, she publicly decried that Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, is too powerful and that this places the democratic goals of Russia in question.
Well, DURR. We all know that. But we don't say that, in Russia immediatly after meeting with the guy! America needs another adversary like we need another hole in the head. Yet time and time again, with Ms. Rice in the lead, we continue to isolate ourselves from the rest of the world.
In my professional opinion, as a professor of political science, a Secretary of State should be a diplomat. Someone who fashions positive relationships with other countries and who politely discusses American national interests with other world leaders.
Instead, what we've got is an aggressive, hawkish representative of our state who squawks out what our president dishes out without thinking about the long-term ramifications of her words and/or actions.
This doesn't and shouldn't immediately earmark me as a bleeding-heart liberal. But I have a fundamental problem with the way that dubya and Condi strut around like pigeons, totally oblivious to the perceptions that others have, friend and foe alike, about America and Americans.
I for one, would prefer that she leave me out of things. I don't claim her, or him, as my own, and to my friends in other parts of the world, I am truly sorry you have to put up with these warmongers until 2008.
And to our American soldiers stationed all over the world: be careful. My heart's with ya.
Someone help us

Yeah, I've always been pretty sure that Condoleezza Rice is an evil robot.

I love the fact that she has an oil tanker named after her. I was suprised that she stayed in the inner circle after the election, but she's here to stay. You need more scandals and uncertainty in your political system. Or a royal family to do all the dodgy quotes...
