there was this girl, right? she was about 19 - 20 and her name was frida kahlo. she lived in mexico city, mexico. she was an educated young woman with a boyfriend and a loving family. one day she was taking a trolly to her home with her boyfriend. the driver was carelessly passing up another bus and began to turn in front of it, but could not pass. the bus slammed into the trolly that frida was in smashing it up against a building. a hand rail snapped off of the roof of the bus impailing frida. she was in a great deal of pain and in the hosptial for several months. the doctors told her that she would never be able to walk again. she decided to use this time that she had to learn how to paint. she would draw little sketches of her feet and her surroundings until her father bought her an easle and some brushes. despite all of the pain she was in, frida kept painting and painting, becoming inspired by everything around her. she began walking with the aide of a cane and was ready to show her art.she met a fellow artist diego rivera whom she spent a great deal of time with. she fell in love and was soon married after, but her husband was a unfaithful man. he would cheat on her with his models and many other women. she ignored this eventhough it hurt her a great deal. frida wanted children so she became pregnant , but miscarried and her husband eventually cheated with her sister. her mother became very ill and died soon after her illnes had struck. all of these horrible things were happening in frida's life and she became very depressed and lonely. she decided to keep painting because it was the one thing she loved to do. she dealt with the pain and suffering with her art work and what she put on her canvas was amazing. eventually she became very ill and didn't have long to live. her one dream was to have her art shown in her homeland (mexico) and it happened for her. by this time her leg was amputated and she was bed ridden, so she had to stay in bed. that was the doctors orders. with the help of her sister, she made it to the art exhibit lying in her bed. she got to see her dream come true moments before she died. she found beauty in her own pain and suffering and found a way to express it and to deal with it. if this story does nothing for you, i at least hope that you enjoyed it! i know it kinda came outta nowhere, but i figured it would cheer you up a little.

Thunder sucks.... i was so near to the lightning thing..... i went fishing and out of the blue lightning struck a few yards away.. it was crazy... sparks came flying out of the ground.. it was loud as heck!

as for your comment on Scylla's journal, I have to sadly report that the band has broken up, since the drummer (the cutest little thing EVER) is going to Musician's Institute in L.A. and the singer/keyboarder is going up to SF state. A friend of mine works at our beloved college radio station, and has a recording of their last show, in which they opened for Mogwai. You can check out some mp3s the put up online at their site
