I just read some really horrible news this morning.
a 21 year old was killed yesterday in boston by a riot control cop.
she was shot though they eye by a "non-lethal" crowd control projectile designed to break apart on impact and douse the target with pepper-like spray.l
she died of head injury at the hospital.
i understand that cops have to use crowd control but this device just reaks of STUPID ENGINEERING.
from the sound of it, the projectile is likely a simple "paintball" filled with an irritant. seems harmless enough right. BUT WHAT GOOD IS IT IF YOU DONT SHOOT IT AT THE PERSON'S FACE TO IRRATATE IT!?!
So the intended use of this device to shoot at unprotected faces?
if my assumption is correct this device needs to be banned!

i did a simple search on google for "non-lethal pepper spray projectile"
and pretty much came up with this in a few seconds:

when i play paint ball the field rules are that the pball does not clock over 270fps. The paint ball has too much energy over this speed. even at 270 speed limit the hits break my skin and leave pretty nasty bruises. Does any actually think these cops are obeying the 270 fps speed limit? fuck no...they are cranking thier paint ball guns to the max...probalby getting over 320fps out of them.
this is just fucking wrong...the pepper powder's intented target is the face. This along increases the chances of cops shooting spiced up paintballs at peoples faces.

I just can not believe that boston cops are using this. what is it with cops being obsessed with SHOOTING people at crowd control.....what ever happend to just THROWING tear gas? and using water cannons!
at least with bean bags the intended target is the body arms and legs, NOT THE FACE!
this is plain and simple police brutality. something i feel very strongly against. police arsenal and methods used against civilians is just getting way out of hand .
