So, yesterdealie was my birthday.
I'm pretty sure, it's the first birthday I've ever worked. Ever.
No, not at the department of redundancy dept.
Somehow, in getting older, I think that my birthday isn't going to be as special. I don't know why I think so, it's never true, and I love birthdays.
I mean, everything else is made up. Be it christian, or national, or whatever, the only day true to anyone is the day of their birth.
My 29th anniversary of birth. Or, my 6th anniversary of turning 23 (my favorite year).
There are plenty of birthdays right around mine, given that its 9 months and 4 days after new years.
What did I do besides work? I'm glad you asked.
After work I went to a restaurant I've been dying to check out, cuba cuba. Holy shiznit batman. I will fuck some shit up for a palm heart salad w/ avocado and the best fish (swordfish) I've had outside of a sushi restaurant.
Next, there happened to be a concert coming through town. Autolux, QOTSA, and effin NIN. The floor was sold out in like an hour, and they totally fucked us on the seats (behind the stage line). The show started at 7, we got there at 8, and QOTSA was already on.
WTF? Well, we talked to guest services, and they swapped our 'you get the shaft' seats for an awesome trio down in row 2 about halfway back. And, God Damn! Can that Mr Reznor put on a show. I think the lighting itself was worth more than I'll earn in my lifetime.
incredible.
Then, we dropped off one cohort in exchange for another, and went out to drink some whiskey and listen to tech house.
Really cool place, called Double Daughters, which hosts a fair amount of the tech house that frequents the Denver scene. On top of that, they rotate local artists to add to the incredible decor, and they're incorporated with the best late night pizza joint downtown, Two Fisted Mario's.
Oh, and this is just a start.
Tomorrow my best friend has booked one of the best techno artists I've ever heard (who's never been through Denver), surgeon
Friday, my other friend is spinning at the milk bar, aforementioned (latter) friend celebrating winning the Scion Emerging Artists tour, and getting free travel plus booked at a party at the WMC.
Yes, holy shit batman indeed.
PS
