I learned a valuable lesson this week, thanks to my Asymptotic Analysis class and the moral is;

When you are given an assignment with a two week deadline it is best to start it right away.

Seriously this assignment is ugly it abducted me from my normal life for a good week... and I suspect I have stockholm syndrome, because now that it is finished...

He likes explosives and I fear for my life everytime he goes on my backporch or in the back yard.

At least there's snow on the ground.... which I suppose wouldn't help if the house caught on fire, though.

The Vigilante Math group needs some love. You should post your "abductor" on thereskull

Waaaah! I give my lecture tomorrow and I have no voice.

Perhaps I can pantomine the whole shebang?

Applied math. It's a bit embarrassing - I feel like an imposter b/c ever since I finished school (environmental engineering) and started work I hardly ever do math anymore! I'm getting interested in geochemical and hydrogeological modelling, so maybe one day my life will be math-filled once more.

The vigilante group appealed to me b/c of all the 'geek' humour. To be honest I'm a bit intimidated by the other math group.

So did you lose your voice while living up to your resolution to be more sociable?

_risforrad:
Yeah, yoga's funny that way b/c some classes I think "that wasn't real excersise - it was more like taking a nap!" and then the next day I think "No... that was real excersise alright".

I do contaminated Sites work (delineation, remediation). Lately I've been focusing on the environmental due diligence side of things (compliance auditing etc.) more than the "playing in dirt" side of things. If I ever go back to do grad school I will probably try to get more involved in geochem/hydrogeology, some of the projects I've been hearing about at the seminars I've attended sound really cool.

Tell me about your work/studies. Have you given your lecture yet?

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day, I know I am; this day keeps on getting better and better. I finished knitting my scarf! I decided to show it off in the best possible way, hence the set on the Suicideboys forum smile.

I need someone to opine right about here, I am preparing a lecture for my grad seminar and I am...

Going back to my hometown really makes me appreciate the city I live in. I will have a lovely year if I never see another dirty bar with country karaoke again.

...Granted the drinks were cheap, I will miss that.

I am on the eve of another math coma, school starts tomorrow... I cannot wait ^^

I really want to start being more active online,...

Back from my math coma! And boy has it been an educational experience.

Things Dave has learned this year

-Marking cryptography makes me cry blood.
-Applied mathematics is fun and easy compared to pure math, it has all of the cleverness with the added bonus of relevant question asking.
- How to knit
- Definition of polyamory.

The last two on the list are pretty...

I have been a busy kid, and yet if my thesis were a model airplane, I would only be mildly dizzy from the glue.
So that is a bad comparison, but I am sticking with it!

I am recovering from quite a crazy night, my supervising professor, several post docs, and myself piled into his van and drove to Antigonish to visit a colaborator at...

Baah Baaah I am the black sheep.

Well at least in the math department, now that I have jumped ship to Applied Math all of my old favourite profs from my Pure Math classes will not talk to me. Hell my old honour's supervisor from last year just scowled at me as I entered his class yesterday!

Do I give a fuck? Hells no.

I...

I am alive!

And this time it did not involve an old castle in eastern Europe, a hunchback and lots of lightning, no! Just a lot of sleep and puffers back home with my family in Moncton.

It turns out if you neglect your body for five weeks without leaving a desk and living off of coffee you get sick... real sick, like pneumonia sick....

The Strangest thing happened today, I have to write it down somewhere, and I might as well share!

I was walking home with my room mate from the math department after working all day on some boring Elliptic Curves Crap for our summer school when near the side of the Killam library hanging from a half-dead tree; a bird was hanging upside down?

It had...

I am back home, and ready to explode into a jig at any moment.

The conference vastly improved once I forgot about that girl and found a very cute french boy... the joys of playing on both sides of the team.

Not only did I learn a lot, and meet a lot of great people; I have been motivated to do a few crazy things......
