went to the river today. Read "A perfect day for banannafish." really bizarre. Spent time with the best friend. Somewhat productive I suppose.
After arguing with my dad for a couple hours I left the house and came home. The phone was ringing. I heard him yell "get the phone" so I did. No big deal. I look over at him and he is slouched backwards in his chair, guitar hanging over him, with his eyes kind of rolling back into his head. I hang up on the telemarketer and go over to him. I dissconnect his guitar and place it in the case. He gets up with a lurch and ambles into the kitchen to throw up. Vertigo got the best of him again. Seeing my parents in a reduced state scares the shit out of me. Then I have to think about the fact that they are only people and will not be around forever. Somehow it makes me question why I suck back so many cigarettes every day.
Other than the blatant mortality of my father smacking me in the face, today was mediocre to alright. Sticking close to home tonight.

Becoming aware of one's own mortality is scary, but accepting it helps understanding what is important.
Isn't the Salton Sea about Val Kilmer and a trumpet?
