I went to see Deadbolt (The World's Scariest Band)...It was free...near my house and only lasted an hour...perfect. They weren't as bold and brassy or cutting edge or scary as they used to be BUT, they were FUCKING AWESOME...
...I won't try to convert you here...try You tube for a fair list of their past glory.
BUT, if I were to be shuffled off this mortal coil to the realm of Persephone, I would expect a dimly lit deserted street with a bright and gaudy marquee emblazoned with "Now Playing One Night Only (but it lasts all eternity)...DEADBOLT"...I would go in...Imagine 3 geezers dressed as outlaw bikers making a musical sound that falls somewhere between "real" surfer music and The Munsters and lyrics such as "I wonder who the hell is buried in Jimmy's grave" and "Get the fuck outta my truck"...Add a few scantily clad SG type gals as well as Suri, Clio and
Ember dancing in bikini's and all you can drink tequila and beer,,,This is my own private Hell,,,Happily...Oh why bikini's?...Well this IS Hell...there has to be SOME torment...And of course Mel13 would be my bartender in a white shirt and plaid mini skirt...This is what Deadbolt made me think of as I sat there transfixed...Some band eh?
I saw them for the only other time in San Diego in 1996...give or take...Country Dick Montana sat in with them on a couple of numbers and Mojo Nixon was shooting gin in the first row...unable to sing alas...
..What a night!...
Apparently they are doing a REAL show in town tonight with ticket sales and all that but they owed the owner of the biker bar down the street a favor and so played for free...![eeek](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/eek.c88c4a705be2.gif)

Since I got a late start on Dia De Los Muertos and had to work Halloween, Deadbolt was an unexpected and fun extension of my "Holy Days"...
