The fresh ginger muffins are out, the candles lit and the music playing...My altar and my house are officially open for otherwordly guests. But who's to say that THIS world is not the OTHER????...Maybe the spirits of the dead feel that they inhabit the "real" world...Hmmm. If you subscribe to "String Theory" in physics, then many worlds and dimensions overlap within the same space. Isn't this what Dia de Los Muertos and All Hallows Eve have been trying to tell us all along????...The afterlife may be closer than we think...If "String Theory" is right, then heaven may be just next door...
I have chosen St. Gertude for my patron saint...Not being catholic I did have to jump through a few hoops but it's official... I wasn't able to get a candle specifically for her...not popular enough with the powers that be...I don't mean the vatican, I mean the candle makers...they are the real movers and shakers in the religious candle arena.
I was able to find a small candle shop that deals in physics...I mean they cater to the mainstream, the occult and the pagan...talk about overlapping dimensions..But the old lady behind the counter fixed me right up..for $3.50 she sold me a blank white candle that she recited the prayer to St. Gertrude over, then she had me rub a small piece of paper between my palms and then she lit the candle and burned the paper in it...seems official to me...
Even though I wasn't able to get the candel I hoped for, you will be happy to know that you can buy "Get The Evil Out", St. Michaels bubble bath and St. Judes "Household Deodorizing" aersol products...Maybe next year...
I will participate in the march to the city altar in the mission district tommorow for the first time...Looking forward to that..I must go...I hear guests arriving...
