I need to keep up on this thing even if I don't have that much to say. I'm not nearly as thrilling to read as some of the blogs I see posted around here but I will at least be consistent. I had a rare day off today and made some use of it. The day dawned blue as the clouds from the previous days storms broke free and drifted off to parts unknown..perhaps Wyoming???
I walked down the major street in my neighborhood and dodged sandbags that had been filled and then half emptied and strewn along the sidewalks by kids on the way to school. Walking into my local coffee shop, I poured myself a cup of strong Mexican coffee and settled into the worn out couch along one side of the room and thoughtfully leafed through my new copy of Zymurgy..I was thankfully interrupted by a close, casual conversation or two...and enjoyed the pleasure of a cup of coffee that I didn't have to hurry through..the company and conversation serving to heighten my facade as a man of leisure.
From there, I poked along via public transit to a bookstore or two to see if i could find a copy of a cookbook I do not yet have...Apparently they are not publishing them THAT fast. Just as well..I'm still paying off the last few aquisitions. I wanted a beer, so I headed for the best Happy Hour in The City...now if I told you, it wouldn't be the best Happy Hour in town anymore...
Russian River Brewing's Blind Pig is about the best IPA on the market and I have had enough to make that asessment stick...so Vinnie, if you read this...thank you...for everything.
The City was clear and cold and all the usual suspects were out and about, after being rinsed away by the deluge. The resilience of persons that should have none always amazes and inspires me.
Well, here's to Vinnie and all the fine beers he has provided us with for so long...his resilience has paid off and he too inspires and amazes me.
The cat is asleep...she ate and nodded off.
