true story.
I was in a bad mood, and transferring on to another bus with my son. now, my son likes playing with the transfers. he LOVES busses, and likes the picture of the bus on the transfer. quite often, I keep my transfer, or ask for one when I don't need one just for him, and the bus drivers have no problem with it. but on this day, things went differently.
Me - "hey, can he keep this transfer?"
Driver - "in the garbage"
Me - "oh, can he keep it?"
Driver - "what?"
Me - "the transfer. can he keep it?"
Driver - "what? no. why?"
Me - "he just likes them. that's all"
Driver - "oh. no. sorry. garbage, please"
Me - "oh, alright"
I wasn't pissed at this point. it's understandable. so I put the transfer in the small garbage can and proceed to my seat. my son let's out a small whimper as we walk down the aisle, but he isnt too upset. before I make it more than 2 steps, a lady waiting to get on the bus after me decided she really hated standing for that four extra seconds I took asking to keep the transfer.
Lady - "yeah, it doesn't work that way, buddy!"
yeah, as I said, I wasn't in the best mood. I rolled my eyes, took two steps back towards the door of the bus, looked down at my rude commentator, and told her what I thought....
Me - "oh thanks for that entirely neccesary comment, Miss. thanks for lowering yourself to the level of a
7th grade student in a lunch time cafeteria line. you know, the next time you get the urge to spell inane
comments to complete strangers in public, why don't you just store that little nugget back in your fuckin'
head, and save it for the next time your long haired skid boyfriend is mounting you. it'll make for interesting
conversation while you're sifting through the ashtrays looking for the longer cigarette butts. fuckin' ignorant cunt."
noone said anything. it was complete silence as I took my son's hand and led him to a seat near the front of the bus. I took one headphone from my iPod, and secured it in my son's left ear. starting some music for him to listen to on the ride home. the bus driver lets the rest of the passengers board. the lady avoided eye contact with me as she walked to the back of the bus.
after everyone was seated, the driver looked back at me, reached into the small garbage can that contained nothing but used transfers, walked to my seat, and handed it to my son. I smiled and thanked him.
I put the other headphone in my right ear, and watched my son point at the transfer he just received.
Liam - "bus?"
Me - "yeah,, buddy. it's a bus."
-------------------
True story. was I rude to the lady? sure. but all I was doing was asking for a basically useless scrap of yellow paper that was either destined to be in a landfill, or could make a two year old smile. it was her exception to this that pissed me off so much. I feel no remorse.
on a lighter note, Entourage is a fucking awesome show! I just discovered it yesterday and I've been watching downloaded episodes almost nonstop since.
