I bought an electric guitar some years ago with intentions of teaching myself how to play. I thought that since I taught myself how to ride a bike, roller skate/blade, swim, and type that this shouldn't be a problem. Oh how I proved myself wrong. My guitar quickly became a decoration instead of a hobby. The only thing I ever really learned to play was the intro to Smoke on the Water, and I was even playing that wrong for the longest time. I'd pick it up and attempt to learn something every now and then, but would just fall back on playing the Smoke on the Water intro a few times and then setting it back down for however long.
Now, to get to the point, I saw It Might Get Loud a few weeks ago. This actually inspired me to pick the thing back up again. It also reminded me of how I tried learning how to play Sunday Bloody Sunday, but despite seemingly making progress it just didn't sound right. The problem was I was taught how to read tabs wrong, so I was playing backwards. I decided to go back and try again. I still haven't really learned anything, but I've been keeping at it. It's a start, at least. Even if it is a few years late.
