Today I found a person that had commited suicide. He was a tenant in the building that I am the maintanance superviser for. I was doing a walk through of apartments today after lunch and his was the second door I went to. Each unit has an entry door with a lovoured door in front, like a screen door. I opened this door an d found on his main door a note that read " 11:35 a.m. 7-27...Please call the coroner and the police, thank you. i am sorry" I thought, no fucking way. What the fuck. i just spoke to him two days ag. I did work in his apartment last week. So I opened his door. I said.."Norm..it's Doug...did you get the post friday that I would be by today to check on things?" Then I saw the next note at the end of the hall on the wall..."In the bathroom...in tub".......I walked into the bathroom..he had left the window open.....on the toilet was in a ziplock bag his glasses and some pills with a post it note stating what the were...along with three large butcher knives. I turned to the bath and the shower curtain was drawn.....I pulled it back a little to see Norman....there was blood all over the curtain and some had poured out of the tub onto the bathroom floor....he was laying down. He had slit both wrists and the stabbed the knife into his throut and pulled it across leaving the blade still in his self. I then left the room and nextelled my boss that she needed to come to this apartment. Once she arrived I told her that we needed to call the police and the coroner.
It has been a mind fuck day......tomorrow I will go in and clean up Norms blood and remove the other butcher knives so that his family does not see these things. I could have some one else do the work....but I feel that since I found him and he always wanted me to do the work on his place for him, that it is for me to make it right (less painful) for his family.
He had even lined the hallway with those glade airfresheners.
