So last night, before hitting the town....Alot....I finally finnished "To kill a Mockingbird." As much as I like reading, I haven't read alot of important books. I picked this one up on a whim. "O.k. Mac, its time for some culture, especially if it isn't on a diffrent planet, or a culture where people are waiting for the return of dragons."
I read the last few chapters and laughed out loud. I have actually done this qften at Miiss Lee's book. My mother is from Mississippi. I recogignized alot of types of people and southern mannerisums in the story. And I am always aprcetive of wit. Possibably more than anything else in this world, even romance, which is saying alot. Secretly I am the biggist romantic you could meet. LOVE it. I mean it is what life is all about right?
No. Wit holds a big chunk of life for me. And the understated use in this book was supurb and suprising, especially givin the time for witch it was wretten. (Which is Bull, given that I said the same thing when I read Voltaires "Candeide")
As I finnished the book I found myself almost about to cry. The simple actions taken. The pain. The relization of growing up. The innocent losing his namesake. The love of a father for his two children. It really moved me. All to often I forget what words are capeable of in the right mouths.
I mean I had to STOP myself from crying. THAT is a hell of a book and a good gifted godamn writer.
I wish to be serene now. And imagine red and gold leaves blowing outsde the window, as I stare into a fire and wait for the gathering storm.
