I have been busy since I got here, trying not to loose my mind from bestfriendandpalitis a type of seperation anxiety! Which is actually a real afliction now that I have made it up and am petitioning its entry into medical literature! So yes, been busy, did things saw things took lots of pictures!!! I went up and climbed a really big hill!!! 2500 foot tall hill called MT Barometer. Its a rather steep climb... I was duly impressed, mostly by the fact that I had to stop to catch my breath every other step! Okay so it wasnt THAT steep.. but its kinda wierd when you start climbing up a mountain and you see eagles above you and a little while later you take a look around you and realize the eagles look a tad diffrent. Then you realize wow they are below me now...interesting. Then the crazy thought of ohh wow, eagles, big birds with talons, very interesting. Then one finds himself wondering where these eagles nest, cause if one were to disturb the eagles he might find himself in a very sticky and hair rasing situation. Being on a quite vertical trail with no escape from a very upset and visious nesting instinct of one of the most efficent flying razorblades known to man...and yes this did actually cross my mind while climbing. I started looking around for a big stick to carry!
I also have been doing alot of bike riding. Been loads of fun. Rode way way way out to a golf course, got attacked by flies!! I thought flies were nasty in maine!!! They sell these fly swaters that are electrified at the golf course!!! They work quite well, though they dont work on the Mosquitos. The flies are about the size of a dime and electrocute quite nicely with a very satisfying sizzling sound! The mosquitos on the other hand, yes well I smaked one and it looked up at me with a look that only a mosquito can make that roughly translated as "hey pal what the hell do you think you are doing trying to tickle me?" then it flew off to find somting else to suck dry. Also rode my bike to this lovely little park, okay so less park more like wilderness with trails that you dont have to cut yourself with machettes and an entire expedition party! I rode through there and had a lovely time going really fast on the trails speeding through the trees up the little hills through the ravines, bouncing over the little bummpity bump logs that they put in for drainange. I was thinking to myself this is so much fun weeeeeeeeeeeeee, then (yes there is a then..) all of the sudden I find myself with a type of terrain that was quite unexpected and very much surprising!! STAIRS! Yes in the middle of my lovely and senic and most swift ride though the woods I came around a bend and was greeted by a flight of stairs. Lucky for me they were down going stairs, up going stairs would have ended my ride alot more suddenly! Well anyway I proceeded to continue down the stairs, why? well brakes on expensive mountain bikes (which mine is not) probably would be sufficent to stop me infont of the stairs and then I could pick up my bike and walk down the stairs. Well in a perfect world (which mine is not), this would have been fine and dandy. I hit my breaks and they decided at that point to take a vacation and goto France! Why France you might ask? Well cause thats about how usefull they were at the time. So there I am going about 25 miles an hour down these stairs....it went somting liek this.. UHHHHBUMBHUUHBHBHUBHBBUBBHNB AHHHHHHHH CRUNCH FLIP BANG CRASH! As you can see everyting was going fine, however a bit bumpy. The my front tire gets caught (on what I am not sure) at the very same time the breaks decide to come back from France (aparently it sucks there...)! So there I go flying over my handle bars and land on my shoulder look up just in time to see my bike coming at me! And being the nice blue bike that it is, it lands on my head (my bike likes to cuddle....dont ask...)! As I was hit in the head no permament dehibilitating damage occured! I got back on the bike, which faired rather well I was concerned my head might have damaged it. And continued on a bit more cautiously, I rather dont like stairs and I distincly dont like them while riding my bike!
Anyway I miss you all and wish I was on more. Stay in touch, email me!
ARGH!
