Well, the bad news bug bit me today....yesterday....whatever. My 4 year old pug, Marcel, was diagnosed hyperthyroid. Now, normally this wouldn't be a big deal if he were a cat, it's fairly normal for cats, but for a dog to be hyperthyroid it's a HUGE deal. Dogs are very rarely hyperthyroid. One of the Internal Medicine vets that works in the facility that I work in has only seen 3 in his 30 years of practice. The most common cause of hyperthyroidism in dogs is a mass, aka cancer. So, now I have to go to CSU and get a special scan on my little guy to check for masses. He's only 4, it sucks to think that he may already have cancer. I'm a little bummed. He's my shadow everywhere I go, he goes. I hope he's just a freak and doesn't have the badness.
