I make really good baked macaroni and cheese. It's really easy to make from scratch, too:
Preheat oven to 400F.
Sauce
1. In a small saucepan, melt three tablespoons of butter on medium heat.
2. Stir in three tablespoons of flour, and make sure there are no lumps.
3. Slowly blend in a cup of milk, stirring constantly.
4. Add a whole bunch of grated cheese (to taste).
5. Add salt, pepper, garlic, basil and oregano (to taste).
6. Keep stirring until the sauce thickens (it's usually ready at about the same time as the pasta, if you start them both together).
Pasta
1. Boil water.
2. Add pasta.
3. Drain water when the pasta's cooked.
Combine the pasta and sauce in a large casserole dish. Mix thoroughly so that all of the pasta is coated with your delicious, delicious sauce. Add lots more shredded cheese on top. Bake in an uncovered casserole dish for about twenty minutes, or until the cheese is melted and browned. Cool before serving!
The sauce is a basic white sauce, but with cheese and spices added. You can use the flour/butter/milk part to make Alfredo sauce, for example. I imagine you can also spice it very differently, but I like it the way I like it, ya know?
So, guess what we just had for dinner?
