It's amazing what having a permanent job and getting a raise will do for your mood. I didn't realise just how stressed I was, but it's clear by how much better I feel this side of signing the contract. It's not all gumdrops and roses, of course, but it does give us some breathing room (not to mention enough income so that we're not living in the red any more). The stock purchase plan isn't looking like a great idea with the US economy right now, though. (Did I just say that? Being around all these data analysts must be getting to me. I actually checked when I got home today to see if the big banks had lowered their rates this afternoon after the Bank of Canada's announcement this morning. Wow.) Did I mention that my "new" job is in the financial industry?
I've just finished reading The Keys to the Kingdom (books 1-5) and can't wait until Superior Saturday comes out in July. Then it will be the interminable wait until Lord Sunday next year some time. At least I have His Dark Materials to occupy my time for ~1000 pages. It feels really good to enjoy reading again. School killed my passion for pleasure reading, and that is a truly sad thing.
Next month I'll be first in line to see the movie adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles. Visually, it looks fantastic. I'm crossing my fingers that it isn't another Earthsea debacle. The adaptation was so bad that the author publicly denounced it quite vehemently. I avoided seeing The Golden Compass because fans of the books hated the movie, so I figured I'd read it first.
My night elf druid has finally been able to get to Outlands!
