I really don't mean to go so long between posts. Life has just been pretty busy, I guess. One thing after another, though not in a bad way. My days are just really full, even the weekends. I've never been this consistently busy before, and it's taking some getting used to.

What's with all these cupcakes with cherries on them? I see them in tattoos (hell, I have one), on jewellery, all kinds of pop art, but no actual cupcakes have actual cherries on them. Not really. Sprinkles, sure, or gum balls if you're feeling really creative. Cherries, if they're on, would be the Maraschino type and would not have stems.

I am so guilty of it- go check out my Etsy shop- I do it in birthday invites!
My mom said actually in cafeterias when she was a teen they used to have really awful cupcakes with a maraschino cherry on top that came in packages, like Little Debbie cakes... maybe that's where it comes from. *ponders*

Thank you!
I'm not opposed to cherries atop cupcakes. I wonder why we don't use it more?

This is the first year I've been out of school in September. Not really, but it feels like it. I was heavily pregnant and graduating two years ago, and last year I was on maternity leave. This year I feel it because my older daughter started jr. kindergarten, so going (back) to school has been on my mind a lot.

And thank you.
And thank you.
You know what I like? Stuff.
Same old, same old.
The weather has been absolutely perfect. I try and spend my lunch hour outside on days like this. About halfway through, dark clouds rolled in. I was pretty close to my building though, so I waited until the sky actually opened up to go inside. I got pretty wet, but dried off soon enough. Light...

Last night I dreamed that you were pregnant.
Oops. I didn't mean to go more than a month without a new post.
Life is good. There's a farmer's market next to my office Thursday mornings, where I get breakfast and sometimes lunch. There's another one near my apartment, and my husband brings the girls and buys all our produce and meat for the week. Right now our fridge smells like vegetables, fruit and...

Farmer's market next to your office? Lucky! When I was in Charleston, SC there was one right across the street from me-I loved that. Went to the one in Columbia every week during the summer. I've only been to the market here once but am making plans to go more often.
I just splurged and got some sexy new headphones. Aren't they awesome? I love the big earmuff types; ear buds always hurt my ears and fall out. My husband is so jealous. He's tried to steal them already.
The headphone jack on my computer stopped working a few months back, and it's nice to be able to listen to/watch things again. First on my...

The Sword is a very cool group. They remind me a lot of Black Sabbath, but (at the same time) they have their own sound.

I'm working my way through Season 2 of True Blood right now.
I'm so glad spring is here! Summer is not far behind. The weather was perfect today. Days like this really make me happy to be alive.

We considered that briefly, and then thought, "Well, do we want to be able to actually eat it?"

Summer's here, as of yesterday.
I like the long days, the bright days, but I hate getting sunburned.

May is Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month.
Neurofibromatosis is pronounced neuro-fibroma-tosis and is commonly referred to as NF.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is an umbrella name for three separate genetic disorders that share a common manifestation - tumour growth in the tissues that surround nerves. NF can result from a spontaneous genetic alteration or is inherited from one or both parents. While most of the tumours are benign, they...

It's amazing how someone can learn a little tiny bit about something and then use their platform to tell other people about it and get so much wrong and spread misinformation and inaccuracies with no regard.
In other news I joined the pipe/cigar smoker group but not many people are really active there, especially about pipes. I was looking through old post and saw you were on there a bunch and then I learned you were the previous owner of the, at the time, separate pipe group before the merger. Do you still smoke pipes? I couldn't tell, are you still in that group? I am a burgeoning pipe smoker and was looking for some people to really talk pipes and tobacco with but it's not really happening for me but then I learned someone I'm already friends with use to be the group owner. Wow. And you're the owner of the tea group i'm in. You are clearly a more productive person than I am.

Happy Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month!
Last week was Mental Illness Awareness Week, though I didn't do anything special to celebrate. I was invited to a lunch, but didn't feel up to it when I woke up that day.
As for Oprah, well, for a split second I wanted to say something sarcastic or mocking about you seeming to be surprised that she got health information wrong. But then I thought, no, you seem very nice, and we're not close enough friends for me to do that.
There was a fantastic article in... Time? Newsweek? One of those, about how inaccurate and even dangerous some of the stuff is that gets said on Oprah. It was quite fascinating. But scary when you consider how many people actually rely on her for medical information.

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
You know what else I like? Spring. It's awesome. I always say that whatever season it's changing in to is my favourite season, so I think my favourite season is the change between them. For spring, I love going out for walks again and going to the park with my family. And of course - barbeques! Everything tastes better barbequed.

Thank you.
So I'm back from an emergency appendectomy.
And even though I had it bad, the woman in the bed next to me was pretty much dying. She was moaning and gasping the whole time I was there. Her son and husband came in last night to try and get her to eat, without much success.
How was your weekend?
