So, I've had a couple of interesting days in a row. I've felt a lot better in the last couple of days than I have in a while. I am not, however, looking forward to work tomorrow because one of my electricians had to take a medical day and will miss one of the hardest days of work we do all week in my opinion because it is the set-up day.
I got a phone call yesterday from a potential employer, but it was not the phone call I was really hoping to have from them. They informed me that I was the second choice, so I would not be going to work for them. They will continue to keep me in mind and I've heard rumor from people that people who interviewed me and saw all of my paperwork feel that I have a possible future with the company when the right position opens up. It was pretty funny that I then proceeded to text my buddy on a different tour who also interviewed for the position and he then called me up and we talked for an hour about the process and he told me that he was the #1 choice. I'm actually very happy for him because it means that he is getting out of a terrible situation and into a great one. He will be able to take his wife away from her current contract and she will continue to tour on the road with him, which is really great for both of them. I still have hope that maybe I will get an interview with another show, who said they were going to line something up and then they disappeared from my radar. I have no idea if their position has been filled or not.
Immediately after getting the above phone call I got a text from somebody on the show with me asking if I wanted to go to the local waterpark here in Lubbock, TX. It was a really small with only two slides, a wave pool, a kiddie area, and a lazy river that basically ran in a circle around it. I slathered on some sunblock and changed clothes and we were on our way to spending 5 hours outdoors in the Texas sun and heat at the waterpark. I made sure to reapply sunblock several times and managed to avoid major burns, unlike some of the others, but I still got some minor burning, which will hopefully turn into some color. I did cheat and keep a t-shirt on all day as I knew if I didn't I was going to have to ask one of the other guys to apply sunblock to my back and I didn't feel comfortable asking them to do that. The sun stayed out for the day and we had a great time for the huge sum of $20/ person.
So, although most people wouldn't notice, but I'm a little shy in person. I have never managed to start a conversation with a beautiful girl in a completely public place, so I was a little surprised when a very cute girl turned to me at the crosswalk today and told me that she thought we could cross without the signal and we chatted for the next couple of seconds over it and I mentioned that I was from out of town in time for the light to change and we crossed the street and parted ways. I've been kicking myself all day for not trying to invite her to the lunch I was headed towards or finding out if she wanted to grab a drink later, but now she's gone into the mass of college students and such and I will probably not see her again this week. Oh well, it is water under the bridge, but it reminded me that even though I have a somewhat killer ice breaker because I work for a circus, but I very rarely manage to use it to pick up women. I have managed to start flirting with a lot more women this week and maybe I'll manage to get back into the game and pick one up sometime, but with all the traveling it isn't easy and it usually ends in a one night stand or less, but I feel like I need to get myself out with new people more often.
I was surfing around tonight and discovered a set by Smurfasaur, which I was extremely happy to find because she is super cute!
I hope everyone is enjoying their week and has a great weekend if I don't post again before then.
