I made a pretty costly mistake tonight, but I also did a good deed. I was traveling back from hanging out with Corgan and friends to celebrate her going pink in a town that I"m not familiar with in a rental car and it turns out that I was breaking the speed limit. Normally, this wouldn't be much of an issue, but it was noticed by two cops sitting in the median of the highway, so naturally they couldn't let it slide. I'm not one to argue with the cops because they're only doing their job, which is why I've never gotten out of a ticket with a sob story, but at least the cop tonight was somewhat understanding and reduced my ticket to 9 over the speed limit and gave me a ticket that should be taken care of through the mail. I may actually drive to the courthouse on Friday and take care of it in person in hopes that I won't have a problem, which arose in the past, that my ticket was not eligible to get paid off and I had to appear in person to plead my case to reduce the charges so that I could pay the fine.
Now as for my good deed, I'm staying in a campground this week with other trailers from the circus and when I arrived home at almost 2 am, I noticed a slight glow coming from the fire pit. Apparently, someone had started a fire and then left it and went to bed, so for my good deed, I borrowed a garden hose and proceeded to drown the hot embers until the steam stopped and there were steady streams of water coming from the pit. It's possible that there are still some hot coals as I didn't turn over the pit, but at least the bulk of it is no longer burning.
I also had a tough day because some of the work I completed was deemed not correct, but it was acknowledged that I had only done what my supervisor had instructed me to do. It still sucks to know that hours of work are being scrapped and things will be created new in the morning. Anyway, tomorrow will bring a new day and new possibilities!
