I made it through the last two days at work. I worked 13 hours today and 15 hours yesterday. The 8 hour day I'm going to have tomorrow seems really easy in comparison. It's been a good week of work, which has reminded me of what it was like to work with the bigger show that I was working before this one.
I had an interesting day today because I handed out my first disciplinary write up today to one of my employees. I've been a supervisor for two years and this is the first one, which says something about me and the employee. She has been tardy to work before, but never to the point that I had to send someone to her residence to wake her up. I know that under normal circumstances an employee wouldn't get this type of treatment, but I work with a group of people that is tight knit, yet not very close to each other. We band together when the need arises to help support each other, but unless the need arises I find that there are many groups that drift through space and barely acknowledge each other. However, if there's an emergency type of situation we all band together to make it work out for the best. We also try to watch out for each other and make sure that everyone arrives back to the house trailers safely, so when someone doesn't arrive at work and we can't reach them by cell phone, which most of us have, we start to get curious. It turns out that her phone is broken and the battery fell out, which meant her alarm on it didn't wake her up. Anyway, I've been very lenient with people, including her, but at some point the line needs to be drawn or people will continue to walk all over the supervisor, right?
It's been a long week and I'm feeling pretty tired, so I think I"m going to surf around here for a little while and then pass out in bed.
