"paved paradise and put up a packing lot" - line of the week for me
I hate New Year's reolutions...they are cliche and destined to not be followed.
However, in my own examinations and musings about my own life, goals, happiness, and aspirations, I have moments where I have pseudo-reaffirmation goals, so to speak. Moments when I decide that somethings need improving or changing, and I make tangible steps to achieve them. It just so happens that this latest bout of self-examination came late in December, and my round of goals and desires coicides, sadly, with New Year's resolutions.
So here is my little personal private list of goals...
Short Term
* take better care of my fish, devote regular time to it
* spend less time playing online games, and less time chatting
* eliminate my spam-ridden email address, transition everything to new addresses
* get an email spam filter on my email server
* get my website back up and functional
* get an actual server up and running with IIS/SQL/Server 2000 (I do this at work, why not at home?)
* be social with the roommates more often
* cook more, eat out less
Longer Term (but to start now)
* get back into shape (attend the gym regularly, lose weight, get back to lifting)
* eliminate my credit card debt
* visit my dad more often
* tell me mom I love her
Fuck New Year's resolutions...and the coincidence of me making goals at the same time as that time of year. Oddly, it's the first time this coincidence has happened, since I guess in the past I was on the semester-system where my goals would be renewed every May (summer break) and August (start of fall term)...
