question: Do you feel ill at ease going alone to either dinner or a movie? What about going on a vacation by yourself?
I go to movies alone all the time, in fact, almost every Sunday/Monday night I take in a late movie alone. To me, theater movies are just fine alone because you really have no opportunity to talk to someone...a movie is not the best of dates, as you're just spending time, and not learning much. Dinner I don't usually do alone, but I wouldn't mind it, as long as I have something to watch or read. I do lunch alone frequently, and bring work-related reading material. Also, a vacation would be fine alone as well, but only to someplace fairly remote and alone...like a south pacific island with sun, clear water, sand, and relaxation. Of course, all of the above are good with a lover or a friend as well.
While at work reading some computer security news, I sort of realized that religion is a bit like a computer virus. A computer virus or worm has the characteristic of self-propogation via a host (much like in nature) due to specific code inside the virus. Religion also has specific instructions for the hosts to propogate the Message, i.e. Witness and convert. It is this sort of act that most annoys me with many religions: This desire and need to Witness places an underlying, largely unspoken value of inferiority on the people that are not yet Saved. As much as religion wants to be humble and meek, this whole idea that someone is not saved and thus damned if they don't also believe, is a bit contradictory. ...One of my many issues with religion...which I won't ever fully get into on here (although I might in private)...
ps: The quote is what comes up on my web page (which only I can see right now) randomly, and is here only because I don't get the random quote online right now... The question is not as much for other people to answer on here, but rather for me to answer and share with both myself and others...but feel free to post opinions/answers as well.
