This weekend I ran out of incense...so I hopped online to find some, as I can never seem to find cone incense as easily as I can find flimsy stick incense.
Now, let me back up a second about my cone incense. My days in college saw my roommates always supplying both burners and incense in our rooms, so I've never had to deal with this, but upon moving out on my own, I decided I might give it a try. Out of the blue one February, my mother sent me a gift. I opened it up with a raising of an eyebrow, greeted by an obviously handmade dragon that looked, at first glance, pitious and quite ugly.
However, I turned the thoughts in my head and I decided to try him out...bought some incense and lit it up. Much to my delight, the smoke spiraled wonderfully out through his whimsical nostrils and looked downright awesome. Since then, my dragons tends have a fire in his belly on a regular basis now...
Anyway, I found a decent looking website with decent product at www.spiritualscents.com and decided to give it a try. I am always pleasantly reminded how cheap incense is during those rare times that I stock up (rare probably because I do stock up) and I treated my birthday self to about $20 and 6 boxes of incense. They have the typical Gonesh incense which you can find most anywhere, but also some new stuff I had not seen before called Milk & Honey.
I bought the two variety "extra rich" packs of Gonesh incense plus a pack of No's 2, 6, and 12 (yellow, clear and green...if that makes any sense). I also bought "ecstasy," "jasmine," and "kindred spirits" in the Milk & Honey brand. I have already lit up an Ecstasy treat, and am quite loving the gentle, sensual, and almost sexual pleasure that it provides...much happy for it already.
What afforded me the most pleasure out of all of this, however, and also prompted this post, was the pleasant surprise, not of the incense itself, but of the company that sent it. Not only did it arrive by mail for only $4 in 2 days, but there's even a handwritten "Thanks Michael!" on my order, and it was all lovingly tucked into a regular Post Office folding box. I have to say I am very satisfied with my purchase and plan to browse that way again for any other things I may buy (having bought lots of variety packs, I may like a few and buy full packs).
