Hey everyone. As some of you know I’ve suffered from social anxiety and general anxiety and depression for many years, I have good days and bad days. So I thought it would be a good idea to post about world mental health awareness day.
It’s so important to talk about these issues and coping with them to end the bad stigma surrounding them. Also to help Suicide prevention and end pill shaming.
I’ve taken fluoxetine for over three years. I’ve also had therapy (cbt). Both of these have helped me tremendously but I have found a few other ways in which to deal with my low days and panic ridden days. For any of you who need help or tips here are a few ideas;
1. Tell a few choice people close to you about your current issues/symptoms so that they can be there for you.
2. Adult colouring books. When I’m having a really anxious day or if I’ve had panic attacks colouring or reading helps me focus on something small and takes me out of the situation causing the problem.
3. Yoga. Because you’re focusing on your breathing or movement or the pose this can really help to take your mind off bad things.
4. Sg forums! A great place to find distractions and something to giggle at or read.
Hope this helps even one person. Remember you are important and mental health affects everyone positively or negatively. There is no shame in opening up about what’s in your head.
