I thought i would do my first ever sg homework! @bloghomework
Well i thought this one suited me to a tea as i have been running my own business for the last 3 and a half years!
Animals have always been my passion and thought i always wanted to be a vet, but decided that putting peoples pets down would be too sad.
So i decided when i left college to start my own dog walking business.
Starting up wasn't too difficult, i made a load of flyers and made my own website, bought insurance and waited for people to start ringing.
Dogs are like peoples children so there is a lot of responsibility, including letting myself into peoples houses, making sure the dogs are safe on a walk and transporting them to and from the parks. When i first started i found it difficult with just 3 dogs but now i manage 6 at once with ease and i cant walk more than 6 as my insurance doesnt allow me to walk more.
I walk dogs big and small, look after puppies before they are allowed to go out and also feed animals when people go on holiday.
This is Willow, Blaze and Rufus the biggest dogs i walk :)
They say dont work with children or animals and somedays it feels like that, it can be difficult like all jobs. I have to work in all weathers, cant really have a day off sick as being self employed means i wont get paid! And in the UK it rains 80% of the year, at least it feels like that!
A huge upside to my job is being able to take my two dogs with me all day <3 Diesel and Rosie. They are both Rescues Diesel is 10 and i rescued him at 9 and Rosie is 6 and rescued her at 1 1/2!
Now i have been doing this so many years i am planning on expanding my business and become a dog groomer this year! I will do both as there is a demand.
I hope i havent bored your with writing my first blog, my advice is if you want to start your own business just Do it! It is so rewarding and 90% of my new clients now are from word of mouth which is better than i could ever imagine! If you want to ask any questions please ask <3
