I have pug panties! Pug Life level 5000!! I'm letting this blog just be a mind-dump because I feel like I need it
My friend has just adopted a rescue pug called Molly, we went to visit her the other day and she is just a delight.
My Frank has taken to falling asleep in my arms, she's changed so much since we first got her, she's not scared anymore she's a bossy bra-eating sweet heart.
I'm trying to fill this year with new experiences, I played laser tag this weekend with Tarion and it was the most fun I have had in a while. I think the ability not to take yourself very seriously is important. We lost horribly to a bunch of children but it was cool to do something different.
Anyway I watched the documentary When We Were Kings about the famous fight in Africa between George Foreman and Mohammed Ali. I'm not sure why since I'm not really 'amongst' boxing but it was completely fascinating and launched me into an obsession with Mohammed Ali. He was the most arrogant, unapologetic man but it seemed to work in his favour, I've been reading some things he said and it's hilarious. These were my favourites:
"I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was."
"If you even dream of beating me youd better wake up and apologise."
"Its hard to be humble, when youre as great as I am."
I don't know what triggers memory or why, it's such a strange concept that some things even in the short term can be disregarded from your head but other events for not particular reason remain with you. I was doing aerobics today with this crazy man who terrifies you into trying your best while sweating to chipmunked versions of Ricky Martin and Bonny Tyler when I remembered an event from many years back, I have no idea why it came to me but it amused me so I'm going to share it.
At my great grandmothers funeral an old man - I mean close to 90- came up to me. I thought he was going to offer me his condolences but he said "if I was 20 years younger I would take you to bed" It was one of the most ridiculous things anyone has ever said to me and it still makes me giggle.
The last thing that's been going through my mind that I want to share is this poem by E.E Cummings, I found it the other day and it speaks to me:
I like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite new a thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body. i like what it does,
i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which i will
again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh And eyes big love-crumbs,
and possibly i like the thrill
of under me you so quite new
Good night

I also got a good chuckle out of your old man recollection.
