I am writing from my very own ice-box/bedroom while bundled in my winter jacket. I believe my bedroom windows are the same single-paned glass ones that were installed when the house was built. In the 1930s.
I was watching MuchMusic today, and when doing a segment on family feuds and introducing "The Knowles Sisters" they spelled it "The Knowle's Sisters". I'm sorry... isn't that incorrect?
Sigh.
Well, I made it through the holidays and lived to tell the tale! I've had some great times with Bettina, including an afternoon jaunt around town yesterday with her and my lovely pug Dora. My shift at the bar last night nicely summed up the past three weeks at work. Insanely busy, lots of fights, lots of vomit. I finished up my course with only one minor mishap- my prof entering the wrong grade for the records. Yup. We're getting that fixed. Only caused a small coronary on my part. Second time that's happened this year. Hmm. What else.
Oh, I can now take "wooly mammoth" off my wishlist. Okay, so it wasn't "officially" on my wishlist, but if there was one on Amazon.com, goddammit I would have included it. Yes, that's right... I got a wooly mammoth for Christmas. Okay, so maybe he's only a foot long, but he's a mammoth nonetheless. I named him "Bernard" but it has to be pronounced with a British accent so it sounds like "Beuh-neuhd".
I just spent about 5 unsuccessful minutes actually trying to figure out how to phonetically spell that. Hmm. Not so much.
Last night I went to see "A Series of Unfortunate Events". The plot was okay (made a much better book) yet I urge everyone to see it just for the costumes and sets. So very incredible. I'm a little peeved that they cast Jim Carrey, though, despite the fact that I love the guy. He was wwwaaaayyy to over-the-top for the part, and it would have been better if they'd cast a talented except lesser-known actor who wasn't quite so... hammy. Does that make any sense? There was just something a little not right about him in the role. Kinda disappointing. He should go back to characters that he's created himself.
Well, that's about half of my news. I'll come back and write more when I'm feeling... inspired. I'm off to eat pizza and dread going to work. I think I can make a full-time profession out of dread. And regret.
Later funseekers.
