I have nothing of importance to write but wanted to introduce myself so here goes. I'm Lula May. You're probably smart enough to know that isn't my real name. But it is a fictional character's real name. In Breakfast at Tiffany's (the movie, I've yet to read the book) we discover that Holly Golightly is a made up name (kind of like Lula May to me) and that Lula May was her real name before up and leaving and finding herself in a fabulously whimsical life in NYC. Breakfast at Tiffany's happens to be one of my all time favourite films and Audrey Hepburn one of my favourite actresses.
A few other favourites in no particular order and perhaps with a brief description of why they my my heart flutter.
-Pushing Daisies:Bryan Fuller is a creative god. This is his masterpiece. From narration to production design to well everything I can not find a flaw with this television show. This is probably the reason why I decided I had to become a production designer. Oh I want to become a production designer when I grow up. I also decided I had to work on this show but unfortunately it was canceled within month from making that goal so now my new goal is to work with Bryan Fuller.
-Yann Tiersen (and Le Fabuleux Destin dAmlie Poulain in general): On the list of all time favourite film this one hits number one on the list. Similar to Pushing Daisies, the production designer clearly knew what they were doing when they went extreme in the colours department. But not only that, the rest of everything else was flawless as well. Including the soundtrack by Yann Tiersen. I could probably listen to that and only that for the rest of my life. I'd like to listen to other things as well but I could survive on Yann Tiersen alone.
-Tim Burton: Speaking of creative gods, there is no denying that Tim Burton would find his name on anyone's list. He's too brilliant to need to define why he's on my list.
Well there are tons of other favourites but I'll leave at this for now. If you all want to suggest new artists and fellow creative gods based on this go right ahead. I'm always looking to be inspired by new work. And if you want to discuss stuff I like, I'm totally game for that too. There's nothing better than meeting people who are fans of what you're a fan of.
Anywho I'll chat with y'all later.
