Art festival in town Sunday. An art festival in a town of artists ends up being far more interesting than the usual arts and crafts fare. No crocheted toilet paper covers! (thank god!) Neo is not participating this year because it's also a huge vintage stock car weekend at the track, and he needs to be there, since he kinda, sorta works there with the mural job.
Hope to spend some of my time wandering the streets tomorrow, though I've got no money to spend and I know my salivating over things like the copper jewelry one friend of ours makes will only leave stains....
Neo's son has a big show tomorrow night, then, in Philly--one that could get his band into the SXSW festival this year. So, hopefully, we'll make that, too, though Neo is in one of his frantic, manic stages where sleep is secondary, and a crash is bound to happen any minute now. He's gotten a ton done, though--both in his studio and in the house. I wish energy was something one could catch from another--like a cold. Why is it we only catch bad things from one another?!?!
My 79 year old mother and her 80 year old boyfriend head out in about two weeks for a long road trip--Niagra Falls (awww), across Vermont and New Hampshire, into Maine where one of his grandson's lives, then down our way to Atlantic City, visit with us, then to Manasass, VA where his two daughters and their families live. This is the third road trip for them in about 7 months time. They are entirely silly and too cute and put up with teasing on both sides of the family, as we all have to give them hell about sharing motel rooms and such. My parents were married for more than 50 years--happily---and to see my mom having such fun again now that Dad's been gone for a few years is amusing and sweet. The boyfriend, Joe, is actually someone who grew up with both my parents, so he knew my father, too. His teenage grandaughters were visiting for a week, over at my mother's house with him, and saw a photo on the wall of my dad when he was young. They told their grandfather my Dad was a hunk when he was young and he had some serious competition. HA.
Okay--I'm blathering. I've been dealing with so much crap lately, I wanted to concentrate on some of the good stuff for a change.
Now--will the electric bill get paid or will I end up buying some fantastic piece of artwork tomorrow? Hmmmm....
