Ok, so I think todays update will be a semi review of Sin City. Inspired by Judas. It was amazing. The end. Not enough? Ok, let's try harder. Visually stunning. Nothing like it yet. Sky Captain wishes. Immortal Ad Vitam (another comic movie!) came closer, and was extremely good sci-fi. But Sin City perfected the digital shooting. Being a big Frank Miller fan, I was all wet in my panties over Marv and the yellow bastard. Mickey Rourke was INCREDIBLE as Marv. Blew my pea brain away. Nick Stahl as the yellow bastard/Jr. did the same thing. It was great to see Nick Stahl acting different from the semi retarded mesiah role he has going in Carnivale. Britney Murphy and Jessica Alba turned in Cringe worthy performances. Took me out of the movie and tempted me to throw things at their hammed up annoying deliveries.
The representations of the woman folk has been the big issue that alot of people have had. I guess I am of the mind that NOONE in the movie comes off as looking good. There is no real "Hero" The Bruce Willis/Hartigan character is the closest we get, with him willing to do whatever it takes to save Nancy. But he kills himself! Not typical hero move. Marv is one step away from being an all out sociopath, and Dwight is, as he says in the film "a murderer with a new face" Sin City isn't a nice place, and it turns out not nice people. Men and Woman. The film (and the comics) take alot from the film noir genre. Femme Fatales, over the top violence, sex, crime etc. etc..........Shit. I think I lost my train of thought. I have yet to have my first second or third cups of coffee. Trying to write an intelligent, articulate analysis is difficult for me at the best of times, and damn near coma inducing without my coffee. I guess we'll leave it there. Sin City was neat
In other news, it looks like I will indeed be leaving for Portland in about a month, maybe a little longer. Hope that's a good idea.
