I'm alive, but are you?
Current mood: determined
I am. I swear. I've just been.....Distracted. Hell, let's be honest. I had a two week nasty ass funk period. Slept alot. Took some lovely walks. Mostly slept though. I watched the whole first season of Nip/Tuck. I liked it, but it's done, and I have lots of catching up to do. I turned a corner last night and early today. I'm thinking I may be travelling soon. But I've been thinking that for a while, so I'll keep quiet about that till I am on my way. I do miss my niece though. And I have a new nephew that I have never seen.
I've been thinking alot about this Abortion thing. Capitol A-bortion. Alot is swirling around in my head about it. I want to get it out, but it's not quite ready. The next day or two. One thought. The South Dakota ruling and probable supreme court challenge to Roe V Wade may be one of the most important politcal issues of my time. As long as I have been alive Roe has been there. The long war, war on terror, operation Iraqi freedom, Global coalition of the willing, freedom fries, liberty cabbage bullshit is big. But I think it may be too big. Too epic and global in scale for many Americans to fully grasp. Abortion, and the right to make those choices is much closer to home. We've all heard the talking points and ridiculous spin for YEARS. This may be the issue that finally splits america down the middle. Along the lines that the civil war drew for us 150 years ago. Maybe we'll see suburban soccer moms hurling Molotovs at Pro-life military enforcers. 1,370,000 abortions in the US anually. None of those choices were made easily. If those people are criminalized, and made to feel even more like they did something wrong, this may well be an interesting few years. Are you ready for the real life horror? We'll leave this off with two quotes for tonight. Here is what South Dakota Senator Bill Napoli has to say.
FRED DE SAM LAZARO: Napoli says most abortions are performed for what he calls "convenience." He insists that exceptions can be made for rape or incest under the provision that protects the mother's life. I asked him for a scenario in which an exception may be invoked.
SENATOR BILL NAPOLI: A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life.
And then from Dead Prez...
I think about the things I fear in the comin years
Ahead of me, I'm ready for whatever they bring though
I'd go against a tank wit a shank for my dreams
And that's my fuckin word.
To be continued....
