I have had a brilliant idea. Every Sunday, during the day, I am going to start perusing the internet to become as close to expert in knowledge as I can manage for a topic that I have little to no knowledge. More accurately, I will become near expert at what people think is knowledge on a topic. Meta-knowledge for the win. The main focus is going to be general knowledge rather than minutiae on the topic, I think, just because grad school has shown me that a dissertation can be written on nearly anything, and frankly, I don't want to read too many dissertations in this endeavor.
Today's topic: The Crusades (along with cultural consciousness thereof)
Any suggestions about interesting things that I should be focusing on in subsequent weeks? Here is a non-exhaustive list that I have come up with so far:
1. Hallucinogens
2. Hydrogenation
3. Surrealism
4. Libertarianism
5. Baseball
6. Illuminati (likely a multi-week endeavor)
7. Tim Burton
8. Free-running
Let me know what you think.
