I got shoes for Father's Day. I'm not even a father. I had talked to my Mom a couple weeks or so ago about getting shoes for my Dad, and when I went to pick her up last week from the mall, she had gotten me shoes. My Dad decided he didn't want a present this Father's day so they bought me shoes instead. My whole family rocks, I couldn't be any luckier. I look at alot of American families and don't see the same compassion, and I really don't get it - why is my family of seven so close when others find it so hard to do?
I finally caved in and went on a date with Shannon tonight, even though I really only have money to register my car right now. For originality, we hit up the WaHo yet again, not my choice, I'm not a fan.
We saw Man on Fire, which I feel is a fairly powerful movie most of the way through. Some of it is unbelievable, but the combination of Denzel, Walken and that cute little girl, Dakota Fanning, made it totally enjoyable as gruesome as it was.
I found it a bit odd that a Denzel movie didn't pull more latin or white audience members, everyone but about 7 of us were black. Denzel is a great lead though, so I can see how it could slant that way racially.
The date went ok. At least she didn't ask for a check and skip the movie. I'm amazed at the kind of women I've had the courage to ask out and say yes. A lot of women who date me though, aren't looking for the American alpha male, I've noticed, but alot still seem to be about money or a nice car. I just got rid of my `88, so at least I don't have that against me, but I don't know if I consider that a good thing. I should probably screen my dates by mud bogging on my first date in the `88 Chevy.
I've held back on dating alot lately because of the money factor, and I think I still might, unless I run across someone who just tugs at those strings - you know the ones. I just haven't met the right caliber of woman that matches up with scruffy old, rough looking me.
In other news, happiness is enjoying what you have, being patient in love, and not even being in love but knowing it will come some day.
I like that. I just may have to patent that saying.

timore:
I had to go to the hospital to see my Dad for father's day. It's cool, I hooked him up with some Perry Ellis cargo pants (he really will only wear stuff that 16 year old boys wear) and some windpants for his physical therapy. Good deal on the car, I drive an Escort, obviously cars are not important to me right now. Paul McCartney says fuck in his songs? Anyhow, no, it is Hed (pe). Mazda's are good cars, I'm happy for you. (And btw, I totally went mud bogging Saturday night).
