So it is holiday time here in the U.S. of A! Thanksgiving is a mixed emotion holiday for me. I understand and celebrate the being thankful for your loved ones, family, and things in your life. But at the same time I think that in the midst of the celebration, we should take the time out to remember the fact that this holiday also represents close to genocide. The indians had their land stolen from them and death brought to their door. I feel that the people that died during that time should be remembered because this country wouldn't be what it is without the history of how we got here today.....

But on a happier note, I hope everyone has a great holiday and takes the time to remember what they are thankful for and be thankful for the souls in history that gave this holiday it's beginning.....

Gobbles

And this a family tradition that my hippy parents started when I was a little girl..... My mom would play this song and we would sing it in the kitchen while she cooked every year. Once I went out into the world on my own, she would call me and tell me to turn to whatever radio station it was playing on and we would sing along over the phone together.....

Now as an adult, I keep the tradition alive and have the movie playing while I cook and I call my mom to sing the song together.....

It was more than close to genocide. It's actually an ongoing pattern of breaking treaties, reestablishing boundaries, and slighting the innovative people that brought us the foundation for democracy, apartment-style construction, and the genetic engineering that developed corn. But whatevs.. let's have some turkey and watch football.
