SO WHAT IS RADICAL FEMINISM ANYWAY?

Some may have noticed, that although I proclaim myself a radical feminist, I've never done a 'So what is Radical Feminism anyway?' - yet. There's a reason for that - other than the bloody obvious reason that I haven't done it. Radical feminism is the central pillar of theory in feminism. Radical feminism provides the foundation (mostly) for the rest of the flavours of feminism. So it is mentioned in pretty much everything I've said, and can reasonably be defined by the differences noted in other pieces. But what the hell - I can't really leave out the single most important thing in the entire universe.

So here it is: So what is Radical Feminism anyway?
Radical feminism sprang out of the civil rights and peace movements in 1967-1968. The reason we are radical is that we view the oppression of women as the most fundamental form of oppression, one that cuts across boundaries of race, culture, and economic class. We are (or maybe were, see 'So what is Cultural Feminism anyway?') intent on revolutionary social change.
We radical (and not cultural, no, no, not us) feminists are proud to be seen as the undesirable face of feminism. Radical feminism is the origin for many of the ideas arising from feminism.
