BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
Part 2:
So my older sister recently got divorced. In a mildly unhappy marriage for 17 years (no abuse, no really obvious problems, from the outside they appeared a happy little nuclear family), last summer she reconnected with her first serious boyfriend. The one from high school, who she lost her virginity to. He was recently separated. She ran into him at church! (Another reason not to go to church, I keep telling my mom...) They still had sparks. She started seeing him, lost almost 50 pounds in 6 months, and divorced her husband last month.
She has three kids. Needless to say, her actions have put her ex-husband and kids into a tailspin. Especially her sons, ages 15 and 13. In the throes of adolescence following a childhood of inconsistent discipline and very little structure, they are pretty much monsters. Of course they blame her for turning their world upside down... And now they are acting out. And they are big. And my sister has no authority over them at all.
So it looks like the older one, who is hearing disabled and unofficially has Asperger's syndrome, will be coming to live with me in the fall. That's right, I will be the acting parent of a 15-year boy.
And I wanted to have a child..........
