I need to update, but I have no energy to do a good job...
Here goes...
1) I've had my usual early winter cold this past week, followed by a nasty stomach virus this weekend.
2) Recently I have been into seeing moveis. I think my New Years Resolution will be to try to see one new movie every week, and never go more than one week w/o going to a movie.
3) That being said, last week I saw a preview of King Kong. I won't spoil it for you, other than to say it is truly epic! Seeing Jack Black ion the big screen is always a favorite way to pass three hours!
4) I also saw Brokeback Mountain. Beautiful movie, and not just the scenery (and I've actually spent time in Wyoming-- Riverton, no less!) Yes, it definitely qualifies as a chick flick. "sniff, sniff" Bring Kleenex.
5) And last week? I saw Rent on opening night. It was insane.
(Can you tell I've been spending quality time w/ my gay friends? )
6) I also went to a high-brow awards banquet for my friend's company, Scenarios USA. Sadly (or not) the celebrity factor was diminished by the concurrent Gotham Awards. We did get Julianne Margolies and Griffin Dunne though, and quite a few NYC directors and producers.
7) The after party for the awards was held at Marquee, reinforcing my distaste for velvet-rope clubs. *shudder* Dennis Rodman was there and a bunch of Knicks. I'm just not the type to rearrange the heavens and stars just because someone is "Someone", so watching group after group get kicked out of their seats or even their general standing area, just b/c a more popular or more attractive group wanted the space, left me longing for a regular old bar. (Although our group did make it onto the last night's party website.)
8) I am not going home for Christmas. I saw my parents and two of my sisters, plus my two favorite nieces, in San Francisco last month, and I don't want to get sucked onto my older sister's divorce-drama vortex , so I've decided just to stay here and do a few day trips to Philly and the DC area.
9) I have to insulate my attic. Seems simple enough, roll out the insulation in b/w the boards, right? But I have to figure out if I need baffles for the soffit vents. Which means I have to figure out how many soffit vents I have. Assuming that what I think are soffit vents really ARE soffit vents. Then I have to make sure I have the right R-value so that I get the right insulation. And actually doing the installation is tricky, since I have to balance on plywood planks and be careful not to go crashing through the ceiling of the room below. *sigh* Why did I play with dolls as a child?????
10) I think I'll order a pizza for dinner. Seems appropriate after spending all night throwing my guts up from a stomach virus!
Have a lovely week.
