A few days back I came on here and posted some stuff about my sex life. Looking back I can't help but cringe at what I put on there, and what surprises me the most about the whole affair which-no-one-here-cares-about-obviously is how I did it without giving it a second thought. It was almost instinctual . I have been floating around the internet for so long, making my way through forums and vast amounts of porn, that I have subconsciously come to accept that my private life is, in some ways, no longer private and that I have an obligation to share it with strangers and "internet friends" alike.
I don't know, I think I'm getting tired of the whole shebang at this point in time. I don't like facebook any more, since it's now 10% social networking and 90% waste of time, and most of the people in there I'm no longer in contact with and I would be hard pressed to name any one of them as a true friend (maybe one or two). I have delibaretely sunk myself into this world that it is only just now that I'm beginning to notice that there's a bright yellow thing in the sky and that you can speak to people without the help of HTML tags. Ok, I am not a total loser and I do go out blinking out into the sunlight sometimes, but I do use this place and other forums as a substitute when I can't be bothered to make an effort way too often.
And that's the thing though; the internet is in no way a substitue for ANYTHING. At best it's a reflection of "real life", and what I keep forgetting is that it's also a way of communicating with people, not an end unto itself. I guess that's why the vast unwashed hordes of nerds, shy guys with "romantic" problems, trolls, Republicans and other vermin make their way to this false utopia, since it allows them to project their egos onto this vast canvas and onto other people without fear of retribution. The worst that can happen is that you get banned, in which case you just move onto another hunting ground or (much more sneakily) you come back with another nom de plume (I've seen it happen way too often).
Also, I've grown a bit bored of porn. Not the kind of porn this place flaunts (it's great
) but your run of the mill, hardcore girl-on-dog action. Hardcore porn is like fast food really; it fills an urge and it can taste great at the time in a greasy sort of way, but at the end of the day you're left feeling that there ought to be more and that eating too much of it is bad for you. That's why I like SGs really; it's tastefully done, you get a sense that there's a real somebody behind the vag shots and there's no nasty, hairy balls getting in the way of appreciating some nice piece of art. That, and the girls are varied enough to cater all tastes, unlike mainstream hardcore porn where all the women have become overcooked shrimp.
Anyway, that's my thoughts on the subject
. I'm not going to flounce off and pretend I'm too sophisticated for the internets, but some moderation and perspective in the future would be nice. Take care you crazy, invisible broncos!
