Now this is where you'll be what a sad little emo slug I really am.
I guess not many of you know this, but HIM were my favourite band for quite some time. I've never quite had an obsession that has repeated itself in my life. That has probably got something to do with the age I was at the time, but due to this fact they will always hold a special place in my heart. I literally plastered my entire living space with photos, merchandise, posters... (the ceilings, windows, doors, desk... furniture had lyrics written all over it. Yeah, it was bad). So here's a live video because this is how I remember them when I first discovered them. It's not the best, but they were my life for a long time.
1) HIM - Resurrection
Let's bring this back to the current day... now my world seems to revolve around a little band called Los Campesinos! My name, Lucerne, is from a song of theirs. My chest tattoo is from an album/song/lyric of theirs and was done by their insanely talented drummer Jason Adelinia. Such a fan girl. Tom and Gareth Campesinos! make the best team. Tom is a genius and I love how he's upgraded and ventured and changed the sound of the band through the years, while Gareth has become just as honest but less kitch and more deep whilst continuing to be witty. I fell in love with them and now I can't stop. This song brings back memories, sad and happy. I've cried along to it many times in private or at their show. I love how obvious and specific their songs are, and the very short interview at the start of this video kind of touches on that. I miss Harriet and Ellen :(
2. Los Campesinos! - A Heat Rash in the Shape of the Show Me State or, Letters from me to Charlotte
The next song is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard and every time I hear it I get shivered all over. It makes me feel like I'm lost in a world where my life is flashing before me, where everything is confused but everything is okay, even if it's not. Here is an audio video, because you'll want to close your eyes and take it all in. It's simple in the fact it's a pretty acoustic riff and a soft voice, but tells such a story.
3. Iron & Wine - The Trapeze Swinger
TBC.
